A Legacy of Innovation, Family, and Farming Excellence
Few names in South African agriculture carry the weight of history, craftsmanship, and innovation quite like Piket Implements. With roots stretching back more than 90 years, the company stands as one of the country’s oldest registered trade names—an enduring symbol of reliability in the agricultural machinery sector.

Piket Airseeders operating in Swartland, Western Cape
Piket Implements traces its origins to 1933, when Van Niekerk & Krupp was founded by Hennie van Niekerk and Sam Krupp. From these early beginnings, the company played a pioneering role in South African agriculture, becoming the first business in the country to import Case tractors, followed later by Clayson harvesters and Zetor tractors. These early milestones positioned the company at the forefront of mechanised farming in South Africa.

Piket Implements is a family business.

In 2018, the historic trade name officially became Piket Implements (Pty) Ltd, marking a new chapter while remaining deeply rooted in its founding principles. Today, the business continues as a proud family-owned operation, now led by the third generation of the Van Niekerk family, with Mr. Carel van Niekerk (Senior) and his sons Rossouw and Carel van Niekerk (Junior) having steered the company with dedication and vision.
At its core, Piket Implements focuses on the design and manufacturing of Piket™ agricultural implements, built to meet the practical demands of African farming conditions. The company consistently aligns its product development with the latest technology standards, ensuring high-quality, durable machinery that delivers real value in the field. As a result, Piket Implements has grown into a recognised international brand, trusted not only across South Africa but throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
Over the years, an extensive and diverse product range has taken shape. Piket Implements is particularly well known for its no-till, fine seed, and wheat planters, alongside a comprehensive lineup that includes air seeders, tine and disc planters, conventional and economy maize planters, vineyard cover crop planters, transfer carts, no-till drills, vides, concaves, horse arena rollers, wood log saws, log splitters, and uniquely engineered damscoops capable of operating in tandem.
Another hallmark of the brand is the development of Piket™ Seed Meters, designed for quick and simple calibration, ensuring accurate planting and improved germination outcomes—an example of how practical innovation remains central to the company’s philosophy.
Piket Implements has always been, and remains, a dynamic and forward-thinking business, driven by continuous improvement and close collaboration with farmers. By working directly with those who use their machinery every day, the company ensures that each implement is built to meet real-world farming expectations.
